Hello everyone,
Today I would like to introduce to you the latest member of the Mahoney household, Rudy. His official name on his paperwork is HiMark’s Delicious Little Devil Rudolph Valentino, Rudy to us.
We named him after the actor in the early 1900s, Rudolph Valentino, who had quite a long name himself, Rodolfo Alfonso Raffaello Pierre Filibert Guglielmi di Valentina d’Antonguolla
Delicious Little Devil is the name of one of the movies that the actor was in and we thought it fit him. My mom suggested to name him Rudolph Valentino because he looks like he is wearing a tuxedo and his face is so pointed and fancy. I was not sure about that until I saw him when we picked him up. Before his face was more round and I just couldn’t see what she was talking about then.
Now, I know you might be wondering why we did not go to an animal shelter to get a sheltie. WE DID! We tried so many of them! We filled out so many applications that my mom forgot which ones she applied to. We asked people we know that work with dogs and they even told us about shelters to try. Guess what? If you want a sheltie from a shelter and you have kids in the house you do not get a sheltie!
He is from the HiMark kennel in Palm Harbor, FL near St. Petersburg, FL. We went last week to get him and also to see my Great Grandfather Clint who was not feeling well, he hurt his arm and was going to the neurosurgeon and he was sort of scared about the idea of an operation.
He is such a great puppy. I have already begun teaching him to use an agility course. We began puppy training yesterday. We worked on the basics: sit, down, up, recognizing their name, leave it and other things. He did very well.
The other dogs like him also, they want to play with him like he is a stuffed animal so we have to keep an eye on them.
