Yesterday we went to the veterinarian with Rudy. It was so that he could get the first series of booster shots. He was a great patient. Well, who wouldn’t be when doggie treats are involved.
We go to Calusa Crossings Animal Hospital with Dr. Woodby and Dr. Ashby. We saw Dr. Ashby this time. She is really nice and you can tell she loves animals. She even knows the lady that we go to for dog training classes.
Rudy got three shots: DAP Distemper/Adenovirus/Parainfl, Parvo Vx K9 and Corona Vaccine. Dr. Ashby also checked his eyes and ears and weighed him, he weighs three pounds. She said everything was good. He has to go back next week for the Influenza shot and then again two weeks after that for the second round of boosters.
We did not give Rudy the shot for the Lepto virus (Leptospirosis) because Shetland Sheepdogs may have allergic reactions. Dogs usually get this virus by stepping or licking another animals urine that has the virus. When Rudy is older we are considering giving him the shot. But since he is a puppy it is not safe yet. You can read about the virus at the link below.

Remember, it is very important to take your pet to the veterinarian.
