Goodbye

Hello, this is written by Piper’s mother.

Yesterday, the unthinkable happened. We lost Rudy (Himark’s Delicious Little Devil Rudolph Valentino). He became very ill Friday evening, vomiting and diarrhea, both with some small amounts of blood. The next morning we went to the vet where he declined rapidly. He suffered from, what the vet believes to be HGE, or Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis. It was awful. We received the call from the vet in the evening that he had died. Luckily, we were with good friends and Piper was in a comforting environment. Thank you to them for keeping her mind off this as much as you could.

Rudy was not even two years old. He and Piper were scheduled to run their very first agility trial in two weeks, which makes this all the more difficult for her. I am grateful that they were able to do some practice runs video 1, video 2 at the facility just this past week.

Rudy came from Himark Shelties in Palm Harbor, run by Judy Guaraldo, a wonderful woman. He was a wonderful dog. He was Piper’s best friend. Thank you to everyone that supported her along the way with her passion for dogs. Thank you for all your kind words.

She will be back in the ring soon enough I am certain.
